Yes, Hamburger is my real (maiden) name.
I was born in the Brookline, Massachusetts, and have been writing poetry since third grade. When working in Nantucket (one of the many summer jobs that got me through college) I met my husband, Carl. And while raising two terrific sons, I got an M. Ed. in Guidance and Counseling, taught K-8 for thirty-six years in Philadelphia, and dreamed of one day writing a Book. Finally, in 2005, The Star Pupil: A Dot's Quest to Find His Place in the World, was born. The Star Pupil has been embraced by All Ages, propelling me to create The Dot Family Series. The Star Pupil's sister, The Zippity-Do-Dot, arrived in February, 2008, and a third dot-child will arrive in early 2010.
I love the creative process, and equally enjoy sharing my titles and related topics to students, educators, and the general public. In addition, I am a consultant to inForm Foods, education specialists dedicated to teaching cooking skills and nutritional information.
